Hey family
I saw a YouTube on turning business books into AI skills. We did not leave it as a nice idea. We ran it for real at Inspired Solutions.
We deep-researched the best business and productivity books. We pulled 50+ public YouTube book-summary transcripts. We mapped what already has legal public coverage (not pirate books). We built a Business Books Goldmine pack. We ingested about 45 Book skills into our AI skill library. Then we locked a Sunday 6pm ET weekly business review that runs those skills against Inspired’s real week (pipeline, calendar, SEWP, Lilly) and sends recommendations.
What we rejected matters as much as what we built. We rejected spinning up a swarm of fake BCG / McKinsey bots. Use consulting lenses plus book skills on one desk instead.
A first-person Inspired playbook for Patreon members. How we turned books into reusable AI skills, stayed in a legal lane, and wired a weekly review. You get the method and a sample skill recipe. You do not get pirate PDFs or pasted chapters.

Why this
Books already hold the frameworks. AI already holds the memory. The miss is connecting them to your real week.
Most teams treat AI like a clever search box. Ask a question. Get a paragraph. Then forget it. We wanted something stronger: skills that remember how a great book thinks, then apply that thinking to Inspired’s actual pipeline, calendar, and constraints.
That is why this started with a YouTube idea and became an operating system piece. Not a reading list. Not a bot farm. A skill library plus a weekly review that has to earn its place on Sunday night.
What we built
Three layers. Research pack. Skill library. Weekly review.
Business Books Goldmine
Deep research across best business and productivity titles. 50+ public YouTube book-summary transcripts. Rights and availability mapped so we know what is public, author-free, or buy-and-own.
~45 Book skills
Ingested into our AI skill library. Each skill is a reusable prompt skeleton: when to use it, core idea, steps, anti-patterns, output checklist. Distilled from notes and public summaries, not pasted chapters.
Sunday 6pm ET review
Weekly business review that runs those skills against Inspired’s real week: pipeline, calendar, SEWP, Lilly. Recommendations land when leadership can still act before Monday.
No fake consultant swarm
We do not spin up a dozen AI personas pretending to be BCG or McKinsey. Consulting lenses are useful. Fake brands are theater. One desk. Book skills. Clear lenses. Human judgment on top.
The legal lane
Public domain. Author-free. Buy the rest. No pirate PDFs.
- Public domain / classic free: Project Gutenberg and similar where the text is legally free in the US.
- Author or publisher free: Titles the author or publisher released for free (Naval Almanack, Getting Real, Mochary, early Dalio Principles PDF, Seth Godin free PDFs).
- Commercial buy/own: If you want the author’s full wording, buy the book. Distill YOUR notes into a skill. Never paste copyrighted chapters into a shared skill.
- Public YouTube summaries: Useful for mapping ideas and building skeletons. They are not a license to host the book.
Do not host pirate PDFs. Do not paste copyrighted chapters into Claude projects, Discord, or Patreon. If you own the book, your notes are yours. The author’s paragraphs are not.
How you can copy this
Seven clear steps for a member with Claude.
- Pick your lane. Start with public domain and author-free titles. Add commercial books you already own.
- Build a rights screen. For each title, mark: public domain, author-free, buy/own, or skip. No gray downloads.
- Gather legal inputs only. Gutenberg / official free pages, your own notes, and public summaries. Not pirate PDFs.
- Write a skill skeleton. When to use. Core idea. Steps. Anti-patterns. Output checklist. Source line that admits what you distilled from.
- Save it as a reusable skill. One skill file per book or framework. Short enough to load. Strict enough to refuse fluff.
- Wire a weekly review. Pick a standing time. Feed real calendar + pipeline context. Ask the skills for recommendations, not compliments.
- Keep human judgment. AI proposes. You decide. Especially on money, people, and commitments.
Do not wait for 45 skills. Ship three. Run one Sunday review. Improve the skeletons from real misses.
Sample skill recipe: The Mom Test
Prompt skeleton only. No copyrighted excerpts.
Use when doing customer discovery, validating ideas, or interpreting prospect praise. Distill from YOUR notes, public summaries, or a book you own. Never paste copyrighted chapters into a shared skill.
Book - The Mom Test
Core idea: Ask questions so good empty encouragement fails. Talk about their life and past behavior, not your idea. Avoid compliments, fluff, and hypotheticals. Always ask at least one hard question that could invalidate the idea. Seek commitment, not praise.
Steps:
- Their life in the problem domain
- Past / present actions, not “I would”
- Deflect compliments
- Anchor fluff with “when was the last time”
- Dig under feature requests
- Pre-plan 3 hard questions
- Lukewarm = signal
- Ask for a real next commitment
Anti-patterns: pitching for validation; celebrating “sounds great”; trusting “I’d buy”; building every requested feature; selling harder into lukewarm.
Source line: Distill from YOUR notes / public summaries / a book you own. Never paste copyrighted chapters into a shared skill.
Sample weekly review
Sanitized Inspired week. Consulting lenses. No fake consultant bots.
Over the last two weeks we watched SEWP VI turn from a NASA page check into a real operating program (manual live, TR template, labor cats, office hours) with go-live still Nov 1. At the same time the calendar filled with partner meetings, tax admin, and delivery bridges.
Using Essentialism and Deep Work, we cut the week to three priorities through October:
- SEWP TR / catalog readiness
- The open onboarding case items (logo, Exhibit 4, C-SCRM)
- One partner Grand Slam offer, not seven half-moves
Strategy / Growth / Ops / Risk
Strategy says SEWP is the Hedgehog.
Growth says stack the offer before the next partner sync.
Ops says protect morning deep blocks and move tax off the owner’s calendar.
Risk says busy is not the same as progress.
